
Zainab Abdelrazzak is an Energy Engineer at FREE energy, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED Green Associate, and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Expert based in Beirut, Lebanon. With over four years of experience in renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and building systems, she specializes in solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid microgrids, and energy performance solutions across Africa and the Middle East and North Africa region.
At FREE Energy, Zainab supports solar PV, BESS, hybrid, and microgrid projects for international development assignments, including UNDP and UNICEF-funded projects. Her work includes load assessment, energy simulation, PV and battery sizing, single-line diagram review, control philosophy development, technical documentation, procurement coordination, site survey follow-up, commissioning support, O&M troubleshooting, client correspondence, and deliverable management. Prior to joining FREE Energy, she worked on commercial, industrial, and utility-scale PV projects across the MENA region, contributing to feasibility studies, yield simulations, cable calculations, BOQ preparation, execution drawings, supplier compliance reviews, financial analysis, and IEC-based design documentation.
Zainab’s technical background also includes mechanical design, with experience in building MEP systems, HVAC load calculations, hydraulic network simulation, fire and life safety assessment, Building Management Systems, and BIM modeling. Her published work includes contributing to the Whole Life Carbon Guide for Building Systems, (ASHRAE’s Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization), and co-authoring research on machine learning applications in modern hardware devices, published in the Journal of King Saud University – Computer and Information Sciences (Elsevier). In 2026, she was selected as the Lebanese Youth Delegate to the 8th IRENA Youth Forum, reflecting her active engagement in renewable energy, climate leadership, and sustainability. She also holds several volunteering leadership positions with the IEEE YP PES R8, AEE Lebanon, IEEE CSSC, and MENA Youth Network.
